Lizard Tee - Sustainablity
SUSTAINABILITY
One of the biggest challenges that I had this semester was coming up with a way to make and present a sustainable solution to packaging and producing a t-shirt that was both ethical and sustainable.
In the end, I chose to make a t-shirt that was made from Hemp fabric which is a 100% biodegradable fabric that gets softer with every wash and also provides health benefits as it protects the skin from harsh UV rays. With the other factor being a sustainable way to print on the fabric I chose to use Algae, a fully biodegradable substance that doesn't need harsh chemicals and pigments.

When going into the project and looking at how I would cohesively display the information, I struggled to minimise the amount of type while still making it attractive for the eye to read. I found that my first attempt was too text-heavy and deterred the eye because of the simplicity of the type and uniformity that made it harder for the eye to read even though the piece was legible.
Though the second time around, the overall piece was more readable and a bit more interesting with the different type hierarchy, I still felt that for something that shouldn't just be factual but also easy on the eye, I still think there is too much type.
The third and final attempt, I feel, matched the brief more and handled type with the different hierarchy and the decorative style that draws the eye, giving it a break from the overall uniformity of the rest of the piece.
